A New Jersey woman was arrested after she allegedly fought with a police officer during a traffic stop (video below).
Francesca Minickene, 21, was reportedly driving in a strip mall parking lot when she was pulled over by a police officer in New Jersey. The officer ran the license plates of Minickene's vehicle and found that Minickene was driving on a license that was both suspended and expired, reports the Holmdel Patch.
Officer Ronia Walrond ordered Minickene to step out of the vehicle and Minickene reportedly refused. At that point, Walrond says she attempted to forcibly remove Minickene from the vehicle. In the video, Minickene appears to strike Walrond in the face during the exchange.
A witness asked Walrond if she needed assistance, and when Walrond declined, the man began filming the incident. In the video, Minickene argues with Walrond about the legitimacy of the arrest and disputes the fact that Minickene struck Walrond first.
Walrond then informed Minickene that her arrest will now include the assault of a police officer.
After Walrond dragged Minickene from the vehicle, the two exchanged punches, according to NJ.com. Shortly after the altercation escalated outside of Minickene's vehicle, backup arrived to assist Walrond in the arrest.
"[Minickene] began getting upset, saying her license was not suspended," Old Bridge Police Capt. Steve Daroci told Holmdel Patch. "Francesca raised her voice, at which point she was advised she was under arrest. A struggle ensued and the girl punched the officer in her chin."
Walrond was taken to a local hospital for examination where she was treated for minor cuts and bruises, according to WKXW. She was released and returned to regular duty.
"When I pulled up, I was gonna help the cop," said witness Robert Rokicki, who recorded the exchange. "The girl got out and really started beating up the cop pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the cops around here, but this cop showed great restraint. This girl was really close to her and really hurting her. But [Walrond] never grabbed her gun or her baton."
Police who had arrived on the scene reportedly helped subdue Minickene, who was then taken into custody.
Minickene was charged with careless driving, driving while suspended and having an expired license. She was also charged withseveral other crimes in relation to her fight with Walrond, including assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and making terroristic threats.
