A woman from Loveland, Colorado, wasn't about to go down without a fight after a man she describes as "really dirty" threatened her at her home with a knife.

Bria Wuest says she was unloading rocks from her SUV at her home on Wednesday at around 2:30 p.m. when she noticed a strange man loitering around her garage. She says she felt "uneasy," but kept working and he soon disappeared, reports Fox 31 Denver.

But not for long. The man reportedly returned minutes later with a weapon.

"He came into my garage and pulled a 6-inch tarnished, dirty knife and said, 'If you do what I say, you won't get hurt,'" Wuest told Fox 31 Denver. "The only thing I was thinking was my daughters getting off the bus in five minutes."

Wuest says she thought fast and grabbed a nearby machete. She threatened him back, saying, "I'll hurt you worse." The man appeared to be shocked after that and ran off.

The Loveland Police Department is now searching for the suspect, whom they describe as a "really dirty" white male in his 20s, 5-foot-10, and with a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and white shoes at the time of the incident. They also released a sketch of the man (pictured above) and ask that anyone with information contact Det. Pat Musselman at 970-962-2032.

Wuest, who has a 16-year-old daughter who suffers from brain and spinal cancer, said she would never let anyone take her or her family down without a fight.

"I'm not going to be one of those people that are going to be scared and keep bunkered in my house," she said. "If something looks off, just trust your gut and be safe."

Wuest's brave story calls to mind a woman from Memphis, Tennessee, who used a machete to threaten a man who broke into her home in January. Cheryl Nibley, who playfully named her machete Rufus, says she used her machete on the intruder as he was trying to break into her home through a window and that, in addition to slicing up her blinds, she believes she cut him on the head and shoulders, reports WREG. The suspect was not apprehended.
