A British woman who thought she was going out on a date with a man she met on Facebook instead landed in jail after being forced to be a getaway driver from a robbery.

According to a report from the British tabloid The Sun, 23-year-old Leah Gibbs showed up at the house of Adam Minton for their date last week.

Instead of asking her in, Minton, 21, asked Gibbs to give him a ride to a local betting parlor. She waited in the car while she assumed he was placing a bet. He came out running, screaming "Drive, drive, drive." Police say it turns out Minton robbed the place at knifepoint.

When they got back to Minton's place, she decided it was time for her to go home. Minton allegedly tried to force her into the house. It was at about that time that police swooped in and arrested both of them.

Gibbs spent the night behind bars, released only when Minton reportedly admitted she was just a dupe and he acted alone.

Minton has a long rap sheet that includes violent crime and robbery. He reportedly needed the money to pay off a debt of $3,000 amassed because of a cocaine addiction.

Gibbs is not a happy young woman.

"It was a date from hell. I thought I'd be ending the night in Adam's arms. Instead, he had landed in the long arms of the law and I was facing jail," she said. "I'm grateful he told the police I knew nothing of the robbery, but still bitter he involved me."
