A Minnesota woman was charged with murder on Nov. 19, after she allegedly admitted to suffocating her 1-month-old baby to death in a murder-suicide attempt.
St. Paul, Minnesota, police said 22-year-old Shew Htoo crashed her car into a tree on the morning of Nov. 18, the Star Tribune reported. Her 1-month-old son, Michael, was found dead in the backseat of the car.
The crash came a day after a failed murder-suicide attempt on Michael.
On the night of Nov. 17, Htoo prepared a mixture of baby formula, sweets, three sleeping pills and substances for killing bed bugs, according to the criminal complaint.

Htoo allegedly fed her son the concoction and then drank another mixture she prepared for herself. When she and her baby woke up the morning after, she suffocated the child to death using a blanket.
Htoo later demonstrated how she suffocated her son to police by using a doll and a blanket, according to the complaint. She put a blanket over the doll's mouth and then pressed her hand onto its face, alternating hands for five minutes.
She told police that after suffocating her son, she slashed her neck with a kitchen knife and drove to Como Park to commit suicide.
After she crashed the car, witnesses approached the scene. One witness performed CPR on Michael until a doctor arrived.
