A woman who pulled her six-year-old son into a fight with another woman in an Indiana Wal-Mart is being charged with neglect of a dependent and contributing to the delinquency of a minor (video below).

The 34-year-old Indianapolis mother, Amber Stephenson, can be seen fighting with customer Rebecca Mills in a video from the evening of the brawl, which has since gone viral.

Stephenson allegedly instigated the fight while shopping at a Wal-Mart in the suburbs of Indianapolis on June 4, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Indianapolis Star.

Beech Grove Police were dispatched to the store at 10:32 p.m., but the altercation ended just before police arrived at the scene. Both women involved in the fight suffered from minor injuries.

The fight began when Mills confronted a Wal-Mart employee for leaving carts filled with merchandise in the aisle, The Indianapolis Star reports. While the argument between Mills and the employee intensified, Stephenson allegedly “came out of nowhere” with her six-year-old son.

Before briefly leaving the scene, Stephenson told Mills, “You must really hate your life."

Stephenson then returned to further confront Mills, which led the two to engage in a verbal fight that quickly became physical. After the two shoppers began fist fighting and wrestling in the store’s health and beauty section, the video footage from the night shows Stephenson’s son hitting and kicking Mills in the face and head.

Stephenson had Mills pinned to the ground when she ordered her son to join in the fight, according to The Smoking Gun. At one point, the child picks up a shampoo bottle and repeatedly strikes Mills in the face with it.

Stephenson defended her actions in a June 10, 2015 Facebook post that said, “I didn’t know standing up for someone is wrong and sorry I don’t raise my children to take any s---!!!”

Stephenson is being charged for urging the boy to attack the other woman. The mother ordered her son to “punch (Mills) in her face...punch her in her (expletive) face," according to the affidavit

The charge Stephenson faces for the delinquency of a minor is a misdemeanor, but the neglect of a dependent is a felony. Stephenson could face jail time, if convicted.
