A woman who was being badly beaten by her husband found no one to help her as the drama unfolded in Bronx, New York.

The 32-year-old victim knocked on her neighbors’ doors asking for help, but it was only when the police arrived that she was rescued.

According to the New York Post, cops shot her attacker as he stabbed her in front of them and didn’t want to put his knife down, police and witnesses said.

“Help me! Please help me!’’ the victim screamed, neighbor Jaime Vittini told the Post.

Vittini, 29, lives across from the troubled couple’s third-floor apartment, with her husband who refused to open the door because he was afraid the other man could be carrying a gun.

“She was knocking hard on my door and crying. She sounded desperate,” admitted Vittini, who was awakened at 4 a.m.

But she called 911 like several other neighbors, who heard a woman screaming, a police source said. Vittini could see the horrible scene through her door.

“I saw the man through the peephole. He was not talking. He was just hitting her,’’ Vittini said.

The neighbor said she saw the terrified woman running down the stairs. A neighbor on the first floor said he also heard the commotion.

“I heard the shots, but I decided to continue sleeping,” said Felix Matta, 73. “I didn’t want to get shot.”

New York Daily News reported that officers responding to the scene found the woman being stabbed by her husband, Juan Rosario, 34, in the apartment building lobby. They ordered him to drop his weapon, but he refused to surrender. Two cops, ages 38 and 37, each fired once, striking him in the torso.

The assailant and his victim were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where they are expected to recover.

Rosario was charged with attempted murder, three counts of felony assault, criminal possession of a weapon and acting injurious to a child less than 17, the Daily News reports. The victim’s three children, ages 5, 7 and 11, saw the attack.

Officers discovered the bloody kitchen knife with its handle missing at the scene.

Rosario had been arrested in March 2013 for assault on the same woman.
