Kimberly Marie Reid was allegedly caught on camera hitting a 4-year-old boy with a stuffed animal and throwing him around the Children’s Palace Learning Center in Clermont, Florida (video below).
Reid, the director of the daycare canter, is accused of abusing the boy over a three week period, but she told investigators they were simply playing rough, the Orlando Sentinel reported. The unidentified owner has agreed to shut down the facility. It’s unclear if the daycare center will reopen.
Department of Children and Family spokesman David Ocasio said Reid passed a background check in 2010 and another screening in 2012, but she was on probation for welfare fraud, which she failed to disclose to her employers.
Reid, 41, was arrested on Jan. 29 and charged with two counts of child abuse and held on a $3,000 bail, the NY Daily News reported. She is due in court on Feb. 22.
