10 Years After The Alleged Crime, Police Finally Arrested This Woman

A woman accused of molesting a 5-year-old boy a decade ago has been arrested.

Chesna Lipkowitz, 36, has been charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of lascivious acts with a child, reports Our Quad Cities.

Lipkowitz allegedly molested the child at least 10 times.

The alleged abuse was reported by the victim -- now 15 years old -- to authorities within the past week after he confided in someone he trusts.  He was around 5 or 6 when the abuse began.

"It's a tragedy all the way around," Bettendorf Police Captain Keith Kimball said.

Capt. Kimball believes the victim has shown courage in coming forward when so many child sex abuse crimes go unreported.

"With victims of sex abuse, they're all different, with different ages and levels of maturity," Kimball said to Quad City Times. "It's important to confide in someone you can trust."

During a police interview, Lipkowitz admitted to molesting the victim when he was five years old for “her own sexual gratification,” according to her arrest affidavit.

Lipkowitz admitted performing a sex act on the child on five occasions. She also admits to having him perform sex acts on her during each instance.

Lipkowitz faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of second-degree sexual abuse, per Iowa state law.

She is currently being held on a $500,000 bond in Scott County Jail.
