Woman Allegedly Set Baby On Fire In Middle Of New Jersey Road

A woman allegedly set a baby on fire in the middle of a Burlington County road in New Jersey.

Witnesses told NBC 10 the woman stopped in the middle of the road and set fire to the young child.

The woman reportedly doused the child in an unknown flammable liquid beforehand.

Medics were called to the scene at Simontown Road near Magnolia Road in Pemberton Township just before 11 p.m. Friday evening.

They found the baby severely burned, according to police.

The child, who was still alive, was airlifted to St. Christopher’s Hospital in Philadelphia. CBS Philly reports the child suffered second and third degree burns on its entire body.

The woman was transported to Deborah Hospital.

An investigation is underway to confirm whether the injured woman, 22, set the child on fire.

It is unknown what relationship the woman and child share.

The current condition of the child and woman is unknown.
