A Georgia kindergarten teacher is being held without bail after allegations of having an “inappropriate relationship” with a teenager.

Jennifer Lynn Robinson, a former teacher at Upson-Lee South Elementary School in Upson County, Georgia, confessed to a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student at Upson-Lee Middle School.

Upson County Sheriff Dan Kilgore said the relationship lasted from July 1, 2015 until Feb. 21, 2016, during which Robinson and the child had sex in her kindergarten classroom, in her car near the school’s playground, and at Robinson’s two homes and an industrial park.

“We are shocked and saddened by this,” Upson Schools Superintendent Maggie V. Shook told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The relationship was discovered when Robinson called in sick and a paraprofessional instructor discovered Facebook notifications from Robinson's account on the classroom computer.

“Someone else in the classroom heard the notifications, went over to shut the computer down and noticed that there were some improper communication between her and a young man,” Kilgore told WSB-TV News.

The paraprofessional reported her findings to the school principal and deputy superintendent, who contacted law enforcement officials.

Kilgore said that if Robinson had not been out sick that day, they would not know about the relationship.

“We immediately terminated Robinson and have another teacher in the classroom,” said Shook, who was proud of the fast-acting paraprofessional. “She's a mandatory reporter; the law requires her to do that and so she fulfilled her obligation."

Robinson had been a teacher for almost two decades. The 47-year-old, who is married, a grandmother, and a mother to two daughters, met the child through a family member. Kilgore does not believe there are any other victims in this case.

Robinson is being held without bail for five counts of aggravated child molestation and five additional counts of child molestation. Each count of child molestation has a maximum of 20 years in prison, whale aggravated child molestation carries a minimum of 25 years in prison.

Parents were surprised to hear the news.

“You’re hoping that they do the right thing and take care of our kids,” one father told WSB-TV.

“You just have to pay close attention to who’s around your kids, and trust your gut instincts,” said a woman.
