A North Carolina man was arrested for not returning a VHS copy of "Freddy Got Fingered" in 2002.

James Meyers from Concord, North Carolina, was driving his daughter to school when he was pulled over for a broken tail light, as reported by WSOC News. The officer ran his license and asked Meyers to step out of his car almost half an hour later.

As Meyers was not aware of any warrants, he was curious as to why he needed to exit the car. Both Meyers and the officer were appalled to hear the reason.

"'I don’t know how to tell you this but there’s a warrant out for your arrest from 2002,'" Meyers recalled of the officer in a video on his YouTube channel. "'Apparently you rented the movie 'Freddy Got Fingered' and you never returned it. So, there’s a civil suit that they processed as a criminal case, and we’re here to take you to jail. But it’s from 14 years ago, and I see you have your daughter [with you], and I think this is ridiculous.'"

Meyers demanded to see the warrant, which had his name, address, name of his ex-girlfriend, and the video rental store, which has since closed.

"They’re not focusing on the crimes I think they should be focusing on," said Meyers, as reported by WSOC News. "That hour the cops sat out there with me, the hour and a half I was down in the magistrate's office could have been spent somewhere else."

The officers let Meyers go to work and take his daughter to school provided he went to the police department later. Although he said the policemen were polite, he believes that their attention should be directed toward more serious matters.

"I’ve lost six friends in the past six years to heroin and this is what is keeping them busy," Meyers remarked.

Tom Green, the writer, director, and star of "Freddy Got Fingered," personally reached out to Meyers to apologize for the incident.

"If it’s 200 bucks of course I’ll pay it for him, just for the principle of the thing," Green said of the potential fine Meyers may receive.

Green said he is happy to support his fans, and is currently touring in Australia.

"When I answered the phone he said 'DADDY WOULD YOU LIKE SOME SAUSAGE??,'" Meyers wrote on Facebook. "LOOOOOL I just about died xD class act! Very cool guy!"
