Gun Rights Advocate Shoots Daughters To Punish Husband

| by John Freund

A Texas gun rights advocate was fatally shot by police after allegedly murdering both of her daughters in a bid to 'punish' her husband.

The New York Post reports that 42-year-old Christy Sheats was arguing with her 45-year-old husband, Jason, at the couple's suburban home.  Christy allegedly threatened her husband, who refused to back down.

“He told Christy, ‘Just shoot yourself. Make it easy on all of us, just shoot yourself,’ and she said, ‘No, that’s not what this is about, this is about punishing you," said family friend Madison Davey.  “I always knew something would happen, but I never thought she would do this.  Christy was toxic for the family.  She was mentally unstable,” Davey added.

Christy had a history of mental illness, according to the New York Daily News.  She once even spent time in a mental institution.

“On this particular day, she asked him to say ‘sorry’ for this argument.  He said, ‘Don’t threaten me like that.  Don’t say those things to me,’” Davey said.  “And then she says 'OK, I’ll call a family meeting.'”

When her two daughters arrived for the family meeting, Christy then removed a .38 caliber gun from beneath the couch and fired several bullets into 17-year-old Madison and 22-year-old Taylor while chasing them into the street.  She even went back into the house to reload so she could finish them off.

Sheriff's deputies responding to the scene fatally shot Christy as she re-exited the house brandishing the .38.

Davey told reporters that Jason had a very close relationship with his two daughters.  “He was the best dad ever.  I would hang out with him and he loved being around us.  And they were so funny – for sisters, you would think they would fight, but no,” Davey said.  “They loved each other a lot and were always laughing.”

According to Davey, the gun that Christy used to murder her two daughters was the same one gifted to her by her great-grandfather with instructions to "protect her family."
