Would-Be Burglar Beaten By Homeowner

| by Amanda Andrade-Rhoades

Kevin Mitchell Gonzales allegedly attempted to break into a  garage in Longview, Texas, on Feb. 1, but the homeowner wasn’t going to let him get away without a fight.

The homeowner, who has not been identified, began to fight Gonzales, who then allegedly pulled out a gun, KYTX reported. The victim managed to disarm him and restrained Gonzales until police could arrive.

Although the homeowner was uninjured, Gonzales’ face was bloodied, bruised and swollen in his mugshot at Gregg County Jail. Police found 18 pills of lorazepam, which is typically used to treat anxiety, in a plastic bag on his person, KLTV reported.

Gonzales was charged with Criminal Trespass with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance. It is unclear when he will be arraigned or if he had any connection to his victim.
