A Louisiana man is facing multiple charges of aggravated rape after a mother found a video of her daughter saying that the two “made love.”

Hermes Rivera, 25, admitted his crimes to officials after the girl’s mother discovered the cell phone video of her 10-year-old daughter claiming that the two “made love” three times. Rivera was the mother's boyfriend at the time.

The discovery happened on April 16, 2015.

The daughter said that the incidents occurred in their bedroom. Rivera told law enforcement officials that he raped her between March and April 3, 2015. He remains in custody on three counts of aggravated rape, according to ABC.

Rivera had been living in the country illegally at the time of his arrest. He has not yet been issued a bond.

According to ChildHelp.org, over 3 million reports of child abuse are issued in the U.S. every year. These cases involve over 6 million children with a report of child abuse being made every 10 seconds.

Among the entire population of children, 1/5 of girls will be sexually assaulted where as 1/20 boys will experience sexual assault. The abusers in these cases are often people who the children know well.
