A man suspected of burning and killing a man in St. Louis hours after he allegedly shot a police officer has been arrested.

Police say Dominic Irons, 29, shot 28-year-old Terrell Beasley twice and then burned his body in the back seat of a vehicle on Dec. 19. Irons, who has been in trouble with the law before, is also suspected of shooting an off-duty police officer earlier that same day.

The officer is currently in critical, but stable condition after he endured several gunshot wounds to his lower extremities while he was sitting in his own vehicle, reports CBS St. Louis.

Irons faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, reports KMOV.

A $500,000 cash-only bond has been issued for Irons, who police say was guilty in the past of seven counts of vehicle theft, violence to a Department of Corrections inmate, one attempt to steal a vehicle, property damage and credit card theft.
