Wannabe State Trooper Admits To Sex With Minor

Sometimes you are your own worst enemy.

That is the lesson that 29-year-old Joseph Adam White learned on Jan. 15 when he was in the midst of taking his state police cadet lie detector exam, and revealed that he previously had consensual sex with an underaged girl.

There does not seem to be a reason why White admitted to these crimes, considering he did so during the exam's pretest.

According to the Associated Press, the would-be Pennsylvania state trooper is now behind bars for confessing that he had consensual sex with a 15-year-old girl four years ago. She is now 19.

White claimed the incidents occurred multiple times in a field in the South Shenango Township between May 15 and Sept. 1, 2011, according to state troopers.

The girl was later found and interviewed by police and confirmed the allegations.

On Thursday, the Pennsylvania man “was arrested and charged with four counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor and 10 counts of corruption of minors,” according to the New York Daily News. He was arraigned later that night by Magisterial District Judge Rita Marwood.

A polygraph test uses physiological detectors to record heart rate and blood pressure as well as respiration in the subject to suss out the truth. Although polygraph tests remain a cultural icon, appearing in procedural courtroom and police dramas, there is little evidence that they actually detect lies.

White is currently in the Crawford County jail with a $25,000 bond. A hearing is set for Friday.
