Violent Berkeley Protester Hits Peaceful Demonstrator with Hammer (Video)

| by Michael Allen

Anti-police brutality protests erupted for a second time on Sunday night in Berkeley, California, but some of the protesters turned violent.

A video (below) shot by Berkeleyside reporter Emilie Raguso shows an unidentified man wearing a bicycle helmet trying to stop protesters from looting a Radio Shack store, notes CBS San Francisco.

However, after a few seconds, one of the protesters strikes the man in the head with a hammer.

The injured man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Raguso told Berkeleyside that after the brutal assault several masked protesters told people to stop taking photos and filming videos.

Some protesters smashed windows and looted stores in Berkeley during protests on Sunday and Saturday nights.

The protests were supposed to oppose a New York grand jury’s vote not to indict a white NYPD police officer in the chokehold death of Eric Garner, a black man.
