A video (below) shot by Berkeleyside reporter Emilie Raguso shows an unidentified man wearing a bicycle helmet trying to stop protesters from looting a Radio Shack store, notes CBS San Francisco.
However, after a few seconds, one of the protesters strikes the man in the head with a hammer.
The injured man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Raguso told Berkeleyside that after the brutal assault several masked protesters told people to stop taking photos and filming videos.
