Video: University of South Alabama Police Shoot and Kill Naked Student Gilbert Collar

| by Michael Allen

Student Gilbert Collar, wearing no clothes, approached the University of South Alabama police station and challenged an unidentified police officer to a fight on Saturday.

University spokesperson Keith Ayers told WALA-TV: "The man repeatedly rushed, and verbally challenged, the officer in a fighting stance. The officer, with weapon drawn, ordered the individual to halt. The officer retreated numerous times in an attempt to calm the situation."

The police officer shot the unarmed 18 year old once in the chest. Collar fell, got up one more time and challenged the police officer again before dying.

The police officer has been placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation by the local district attorney’s office.

Collar’s mother, Bonnie Collar told CNN: "The first thing on my mind is, freshman kids do stupid things. Campus police should be equipped to handle activity like that without having to use lethal force."
