Video: Raw Bacon Scattered Across Prayer Site During Ramadan, Police Investigate Possible 'Hate Crime'

| by Michael Allen

Raw bacon was scattered across a temporary Muslim prayer site, John D'Amto Field in Staten Island, near the end of Ramadan.

In Islam, Muslims are banned from eating bacon because pigs are considered unclean.

Police are investigating the incident, which may be a possible hate crime, reports the Daily Mail.

Muslim officials found the bacon before 1,500 Muslims gathered on Sunday for Eid-ul-Fitr, the Muslim holiday, which signals the end of fasting.

The bacon was found on the field with a note that referenced a website with derogatory comments towards Muslims such as: "I am going to walk my pet pig and i am gonna let him [expletive] ....just in time for morning prayers. They should send in a assault team and rid Staten island of all the muslim terrorists."

NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly said in a statement: "We are attempting to locate the individual who made the comments on the website."
