A Las Vegas pet store owner was arrested for suspicion of arson, but all 28 puppies inside her store were rescued.

Gloria Lee, 35, owner of Prince and Princess Puppy Boutique, was booked into Clark County Jail for suspicion of first-degree arson early Monday.

Clark County Fire Department spokesman John Steinbeck said in a statement issued Saturday that the 28 puppies inside Lee’s store could have died. The store’s sprinkler system didn’t activate ahead of firefighters’ arrivals.

The motive for the crime was unclear. Steinbeck said the fire caused $100,000 in damage to the building.

No humans were injured in the fire.

The puppies were taken by county animal control officers and are being cared for at a local animal shelter.
