A Utah teacher accused of having sex with three different students allegedly had sex with one after her initial arrest, and now, a judge has decided to deal with each case separately.
Earlier this year, we told you about Brianne Altice, the Utah teacher who was facing 14 felony charges for sex with three different male students. One of the students, now 18, claims that he had sex with the 35-year-old teacher before and after she was arrested in October 2013 for sex with a different student.
Now, rather than trying all three cases together, a judge has decided to split the sexual misconduct cases into separate matters. The prosecution had reportedly pushed to have all three cases tried together, but the defense argued that it would be prejudicial to do so.
Ultimately, the judge decided that the defense’s argument was valid, also acknowledging that there was enough evidence from all three to separate them.
Since having a sexual encounter with one of the students following her arrest, Altice has remained behind bars as she awaits a trial.
Trial dates are set to be scheduled on April 9 for all three separate cases.
