UPS Worker Fired And Charged With Theft After Stealing $180K Diamond And Trading It For $20 Of Weed

A UPS worker who allegedly stole an expensive diamond and traded it for marijuana has been charged with theft after being fired from his job.

20-year-old Walter Earl Morrison of Phoenix, Arizona was arrested and charged for stealing the diamond while unloading a plane of packages. He decided to stash one package in his shirt thinking it was cash, but he later discovered that it actually contained the diamond.

Rather than investigate how much the diamond was worth, Morrison just decided that he would trade it for $20 worth of marijuana. As it turns out, the diamond is worth $180,000, and as jeweler Brent Taubman explains, the single stone is worth much more than it seems.

“Any single stone over $100,000 is an expensive stone,” said Taubman, owner of House of Diamonds.

Morrison was soon caught, and the diamond is reportedly being returned to its owner. UPS immediately fired the employee, and now, he’s facing a felony theft charge.
