Lancaster, California, police have arrested two suspects who were allegedly involved in the sexual assault of a woman and the kidnapping of her 13-month-old daughter.
The woman was staying at a Motel 6 in Palmdale with 38-year-old Jonathan Holmes on Saturday, KTLA reported. She was allegedly abducted at around 3 a.m. and sexually assaulted in the Antelope Valley. Her 13-month-old baby girl, who was left back at the motel, was then kidnapped.
The mother was taken to a desert area near Lake Los Angeles, Sheriff’s Lt. Joseph Fender told the news station. Authorities found the woman naked and searched the area for her clothes.

The woman reported at around 6:30 a.m. that she had been sexually assaulted in the desert and her daughter had been kidnapped. Authorities are investigating why the crimes were not reported earlier.
An Amber Alert identified the kidnapped child as Penelope Rodriguez.
Police initially thought Holmes was responsible but later determined he was not involved, according to a news release issued Saturday evening.
Another man was identified as a person of interest in the abduction, according to the news release. Investigators received a description of the vehicle the suspect was driving, a blue Ford Contour.

Deputies from the Palmdale station were able to locate the vehicle at about 2:50 p.m. with 35-year-old Brandon Wynn and a male juvenile inside. They were both taken into custody, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
A resident living near Avenue T-8 on 40th street heard a noise in a shed, My Fox La reported. After investigating, the resident found 13-month-old Penelope alone. Deputies said the suspects were on their way back to the shed to retrieve the baby and take her to a fire station for safety, according to reports.
It is unknown how long the baby was left there.
The girl was rushed to the hospital and her condition was described as not life-threatening, according to reports.
Wynn and the unnamed minor were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, according to KTLA. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
