Two female teachers at a Louisiana high school are accused of carrying on a sexual relationship with a male student.
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed it is investigating allegations that two women who work at Destrehan High School had a sexual relationship with the same male student.
The names and ages of the parties involved have not been disclosed.
The sexual activity allegedly occurred off campus.
Brandon Wild, a Destrehan junior, told WGNO that he has taken a class with one of the accused.
“She’s a cool teacher,” Wild said. “Her class is pretty fun.”
Destrehan principal Stephen Weber says the teachers were placed on leave and issued the following statement to parents and students on Sunday:
"This is Stephen Weber, Principal of Destrehan High School. By now you may have heard about a situation being investigated at DHS. I want to assure you that while the school system and proper authorities are conducting a thorough investigation of the allegations, you can be confident that teaching and learning, our core business, will continue effectively. No further information regarding the situation can be given, but please do not hesitate to contact me at the school if you have any concerns."
“We are conducting a thorough investigation,” parish school spokeswoman Stevie Crovetto said in a statement. “We have turned the matter over to the sheriff’s office. It is premature at this time to give any information. A statement will be released at the appropriate time.”
“While the matter is being investigated it’s too early to say more," Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Patrick Yoes told WGNO. "There is much more work to do in the case."
