Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign manager has been arrested and charged with simple battery after grabbing a journalist at a Florida campaign event on March 8. The arrest coincides with the release of new footage clearly showing Corey Lewandowski, 41, forcibly grabbing Breitbart News Network reporter Michelle Fields (video below).
On Mar. 8, Fields was among the reporters attending a Trump campaign event in Jupiter, Florida. Attempting to get a quote directly from the business mogul and GOP front runner himself, Fields walked alongside Trump asking about affirmative action.
Surveillance footage released by Jupiter Police shows it was then that she was forcibly grabbed by the arm and yanked back. Fields and Ben Terris, a reporter at The Washington Post, alleged that the man who had put his hands on her was Trump’s campaign manager, Lewandowski, Raw Story reports.
The accusation was dismissed outright by the Trump campaign. The GOP candidate’s communications director Hope Hicks released a statement accusing Fields of being an attention-seeker, and implied that she had repeatedly lied before about different incidents.

Fields tweeted a photograph of her bruised arm as evidence that force was used, and she eventually resigned from her job at Breitbart. The conservative website has been accused of being favorable to Trump and criticized for not standing by their reporter’s story.
Breitbart editor-at-large Ben Shapiro also resigned in protest over Fields’ treatment, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Lewandowski denied the claim that he laid a hand of Fields.
“You are totally delusional,” the campaign manager wrote on Twitter. “I never touched you. As a matter of fact, I have never met you," he continued, according to the Palm Beach Post.

On Mar. 29, Lewandowski turned himself in to Jupiter Police and has been arrested for simple battery, CNBC reports.
“Mr. Lewandowski is absolutely innocent of this charge,” the Trump campaign said in a statement. “He will enter a plea of not guilty and looks forward to his day in court. He is completely confident that he will be exonerated.”
