Timothy Alsip Robs Oregon Bank of $1, Waits For Police To Come Arrest Him
A man who robbed $1 from a bank on Friday and calmly waited for police to arrive to take him away after his crime.
According to KGW, Timothy Alsip gave a bank teller at a Bank of America in Clackamas, Ore., a note that said “This is a holdup. Give me a dollar,” said Mark Nikolai with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
After Alsip got the dollar, he reportedly down in the lobby and waited for police.
The 50-year-old man was arrested without incident by Clackamas County sheriff's deputies, reported The Oregonian. Alsip was booked into the Clackamas County Jail on suspicion of second-degree robbery with bail set at $250,000.
Nikolai said deputies determined that Alsip wanted to be arrested so he could get medical care. He said Alsip exhibited strange behavior during the past week, including flagging down citizens so they would call 911. Nikolai said Alsip also called 911 himself to complain of various imaginary problems such as being hit by a car, suffering from dental pain and overdosing on drugs.
"His behavior today is consistent with the behavior he has displayed over the last week," Nikolai said.
Alsip, who told police he had no permanent address, does not have a criminal record in Oregon.
