A 3-month-old baby girl from Boiling Springs, South Carolina, has died after suffering from head injuries that were allegedly inflicted by her babysitter -- just one day after her mother returned to work from maternity leave and her father began a new job.
Everly Dickard stopped breathing on March 20, while she was under the supervision of her new caretaker, 32-year-old Katie Harris. The baby's mother, April, had just returned to work after being home on maternity leave and her father, Matthew, started a new job that day, reports the Daily Mail.
Authorities say the injuries Everly suffered, which included a build up of blood clots beneath her skull and hemorrhages inside of her eyes, were "non-accidental." Harris was arrested and, when questioned, reportedly said the baby had fallen off of a swing. But she failed a polygraph test and it is still unknown what, exactly, happened that day.
Everly's autopsy will be completed this week and the results could mean Harris' charges will be upgraded from abuse inflicting great bodily harm upon a child.

Harris' attorney, Robert Ianaurio, reportedly maintains that his client is innocent.
On a GoFundMe page set up for the family, Everly's parents share that they have been married for six years and have been trying to have a child for some time. They call Everly Grey "the most beautiful miracle." So far, the site has helped raise more than $28,000 for the grieving family.
