Three students at the Sleepy Hill Middle School in Lakeland, Florida, were allegedly planning to wreak havoc at the school with explosive devices (video below).

According to the Lakeland Police Department, two girls, 13 and 12, and one boy, 13, have been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit aggravated battery and conspiracy to construct destructive devices.

Two of the middle-schoolers have been arrested, while one is in the hospital and has been served with a warrant, reports My Fox Tampa Bay.

"Because of the action of school personnel and the Lakeland Police Department, a potential crisis at this school may have been interrupted," stated police spokesman, Capt. John Thomason.

The Sleepy Hill Middle School contacted the police based on "disturbing" information in a student's notebook.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, police searched the bedroom of the 13-year-old girl and found she had been doing web research on bomb-making.

Her research also included famous mass-murderers such as: Adam Lanza and the 1999 Columbine High School gunmen, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.

The girl was seen as the ringleader of the group, and the other girl and boy were followers.
