Would-Be Rapist Arrested After Good Samaritans Rescue 14-Year-Old Girl

| by Jonathan Constante

Three good Samaritans in Missouri saved a teenage girl from a would-be rapist, police say.

The three friends told Springfield police they were parking their car at a Greenway Trail near Wilson’s Creek Thursday night. They heard a girl screaming for help and followed the sound, the News-Leader reported.

Their inquiry led them to a 22-year-old man later identified as Christopher Muller. He was reportedly on top of a 14-year-old girl wearing nothing but his boxers.

The friends reportedly pulled the would-be rapist off the girl and detained him until police arrived.

Muller was arrested Friday. He was charged with attempted rape and attempted statutory rape.

Police said the 14-year-old girl was found stable but “completely unresponsive.” They believe she was either under the influence of something or in extreme shock.

During an interview, Muller told police he thought the girl was 15. He said the girl was “hot,” but denied raping her. Muller said he had gone to the park with the girl that night and went swimming, which is why he was wearing only his boxers.

Muller added that all he remembers was walking back towards his car after swimming and being tackled. He said he wasn’t sure who tackled him because he wasn’t wearing his glasses.

The name of the 14-year-old girl was not released to protect her identity. Muller is currently in Greene County Jail on $250,000 bond.
