A staff member at a nursing home in Texas was arrested for reportedly raping an elderly woman.

Ryan Otey, a 27-year-old employee at Crescent Place Assisted Living Center in Cedar Hill, Texas, was arrested after a fellow staff member saw him in a 76-year-old woman’s bed with his pants down and called police. The victim reportedly had “limited mental faculties,” according to a police report.

After being questioned by authorities, Otey gave a voluntary statement admitting to the incident and was arrested based on his admission. He was charged with aggravated sexual assault of an elderly or disabled person, with bond set at $500,000. The victim’s family was notified of the incident.

According to court records, Otey was arrested in May of 2014 for misdemeanor theft relating to an incident at a Walmart store. Those charges were later dismissed after Otey participated in an anti-theft class and 24 hours of community service.
