A law-abiding gun owner recently admitted to shooting his girlfriend while they were drinking and playing a game of “quick draws” in Argyle, Texas.
At first, the woman told police that she had been cleaning her .44-caliber gun when she shot herself, reports The Cross Timbers Gazette.
Her nervous boyfriend told police the same story, but later admitted that he had been responsible for the shooting.
The man said that he and his girlfriend had been practicing “quick draws” on each other during a night of drinking, and he was not aware that the gun was loaded.
“The officer reported that the woman had been lying in a large pool of blood all night long,” the police report said.
The man was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The name of the suspect and the victim have not been released.
