Teens Trent Mays and Ma’lik Richmond Found Guilty in Steubenville Rape Case

Two Steubenville high school football players broke down in tears on Sunday when an Ohio judge found them guilty of allegedly raping a drunk 16-year-old girl.

In a decision that came as little surprise to most who had been following this case, Judge Thomas Lipps announced that Trent Mays, 17, and Ma’lik Richmond, 16, had physically violated a young female who wasn’t capable of rejecting their advances.

According to CNN, Mays was also found guilty of disseminating a nude photo of a minor.

Mays will face at minimum two years in a juvenile facility, whereas Richmond will face a minimum of one. Both could face detention until the age of 21.

The victim’s mother said this following the judge’s verdict:  "Human compassion is not taught by a teacher, a coach or a parent. It is a God-given gift instilled in all of us. You displayed not only a lack of this compassion, but a lack of any moral code."
