Teen mother Tiona Rodriguez, who was arrested for shoplifting and found with a fetus in her purse, has begun receiving Internet death threats.
The 17-year-old was arrested at a Victoria’s Secret in midtown after she was caught shoplifting, and that's when a police officer discovered the corpse of her son wrapped in the bottom of her purse.
After the fetus was recovered, Rodriguez argued that she was unsure of what to do with the remains.
While Rodriguez claimed that the fetus was six months old and a result of a miscarriage, a medical examiner reported that the 8-month-old baby might have died of asphyxiation.
The baby was apparently born and died on the same day, when Rodriguez reportedly had a job interview.
Since her arrest, Rodriguez has reported multiple death threats via Facebook, according to defense lawyer Genay Ann Leitman.
Her Facebook page has since been deleted.
Leitman added that Rodriguez was an A student who hoped to attend college.
