Teacher's Aide Accused Of Sexually Abusing A 14-Year-Old Student

Robert Otis Wilson III, a special education teacher’s aide in Montgomery County, Maryland, has been charged with sexually abusing a 14-year-old student at Loiederman Middle School in Silver Spring.

Wilson reportedly met up with the student underneath a set of stairs at the school, away from any security cameras, and would kiss and touch her “at least once a day for several months during and after school,” the student told detectives, according to court documents.

Wilson allegedly went to the student’s apartment building and fondled her at one point.

Dana Tofig, a spokesman for the school system, told The Washington Post in an email that, after the allegations caught the attention of a staff member, “it was immediately reported” to Child Protective Services and police.

Wilson actually wasn’t working as a teacher’s aide at the time of his arrest - he had been moved to the Division of Food and Nutrition Services warehouse, which he applied for. He has also served as the assistant track coach at Wheaton High School.

Karen Wilson, Wilson’s aunt, told reporters at My Fox DC, "I'm very, very upset about what's being said about my nephew. I don't believe it's true, but if it's true I wish he would've told somebody so we could have got him some help.”

Wilson is now on administrative leave.
