A teacher in Southern California who pleaded guilty to having sex with three underage students, one of whom is the father of her child, was released Sunday after serving only four months of her one-year sentence.
Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst, 29, faced up to 29 years in prison before she accepted a plea deal last year. She originally faced 41 counts of sex and oral copulation with a minor.
As part of the agreement, the former Citrus Valley High teacher pleaded guilty to four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and two counts of oral copulation with a minor.
Whitehurst was sentenced on Aug. 28 to one year in jail and five years’ probation.
