Pennsylvania Teacher Allegedly Had Sex With 13-Year-Old Student

| by Sean Kelly

A Pennsylvania teacher is under investigation after a 13-year-old student told authorities that the two were involved in a sexual relationship — having sex more than a dozens times at her home.

Melinda Trezise, 39, turned herself in on Friday and was arraigned following an investigation into the alleged sexual relationship, which the teen said took place between December of 2014 and April of this year, WNEP reported.

The relationship came to light on April 15, when Trezise was involved in a minor car accident near the elementary school where she taught, according to court papers cited by WNEP. The student was reportedly in the car at the time and was caught fleeing the scene.

The boy was subsequently interviewed by authorities and admitted to the relationship. A fellow teacher found a note in Trezise’s classroom that read, in part, “If anything should happen to Melinda A. Trezise -- please read.”

“I love my daughters more than life itself. I love my husband and I love my family . My mistakes have been many since December. I need help -- a lot of help. I'm seeing how broken I am and I need help,” the letter continued.

According to the student, the relationship began with Trezise kissing him and rubbing his genitals over his clothing. He later admitted to having sex with Trezise at least 14 times. Trezise resigned in April.

North Schuylkill School District Superintendent Dr. Robert Ackell released a statement:

"The North Schuylkilll School District is aware of the charges filed against Melinda Trezise. Upon first learning of the allegations regarding Mrs. Trezise, district officials took prompt action to maintain the safety and welfare of our students. The District reported the allegations to law enforcement officials and Childline. Mrs. Trezise was also suspended pending the outcome of the investigation before her decision to resign.

"The District has cooperated fully throughout the criminal investigation and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement officials," the statement continued. "The safety and welfare of all students is our top priority. We will continue to monitor this matter closely and will take any and all additional steps necessary to keep our students safe."

Trezise is now facing charges that include institutional statutory sex assault and indecent sex assault.

She was released from jail after posting $50,000 bail.
