Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Dousing Another Man With Gasoline, Lights Him On Fire

| by Lisa Fogarty

A man in Orange County, Florida, is in the hospital recovering from second-degree burns over half of his body after another man reportedly set him on fire Sunday in retaliation for “snitching” on his cousin, reports WFTV.

Shannon Brewer, 42, was reportedly sitting outside of his house on his porch with his girlfriend at around 2:15 a.m. when Vincent Moore, 47, approached him and doused him in gasoline. He then set fire to the man with a lighter because Brewer had apparently leaked incriminating details about his cousin at his criminal court trial, according to police.

Brewer’s girlfriend, Pamela Connolly, extinguished the fire and called 911, reports The Florida News Journal. When help arrived, Brewer, Connolly and Moore were reportedly found standing together by a car.

Moore was arrested at the scene of the crime, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Although he initially declined help, Brewer’s skin was reportedly bubbling, smoke was coming out of his body, and he appeared to be in a lot of pain. Police say he would not provide details about what had happened at first but that they suspect he was just frightened.

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

The victim’s father, Gary Brewer, said he believes the incident had something to do with drugs.

Moore reportedly has a criminal past. He has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and is being held without bond.
