A Brown University student who went missing back in March is apparently not one of the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings.

It was first suggested on Reddit that Sunil Tripathi, 22, was bombing suspect number two, “the man in the white hat.” Later, one of Tripathi’s former classmates, Kami Mattioli, made a similar suggestion on Twitter.

Now that the bombing suspects have been identified as Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev of Russia, it appears that Tripathi is in the clear. The two men are reportedly brothers from a region near Chechnya, The Inquisitr reported.

Tripathi was mentioned by the Boston police on their scanners which only led to further speculation that he was a suspect. The former university student is from Providence, Rhode Island. Tripathi had been working through a number of personal problems before being kicked out of school. The young man disappeared from his apartment, leaving behind his cellphone, credit card, ID, and other personal effects.

Efforts to find Tripathi are ongoing. Some have tried reaching him on his Twitter account, @findingsunny.
