Adam Barnes (pictured) was arrested and tased by police on Saturday afternoon for allegedly assaulting a man dressed as a Stormtrooper and another man dressed as a Ghostbuster at Coast City Comics in Portland, Maine.
Barnes was charged with two counts of assault, disorderly conduct and five counts of criminal threatening for allegedly threatening five police officers, reports the Maine Sun Journal.
Coast City Comics was hosting a Free Comic Book Day event. About a dozen people were dressed in costumes, notes ComicBookResources.com.
“There were a bunch of people standing outside trying to drum up business and one guy was dressed as a Stormtrooper,” said Bobby Daggett, who was dressed as Green Lantern. “Out of nowhere this guy tried to put [the guy in the Stormtrooper costume] in a choke-hold from behind and then throws him to the ground. He was trying to be intimidating above him and screamed obscenities to everybody.”

“I didn’t think it was malicious [at first]. I thought they were messing around,” said Daggett. “But the guy in costume had no idea who this guy was.”
According to Portland Police Lt. Gary Hutcheson, Barnes was confronted by police a block away from the comic book store.
“He was taunting and challenging police officers and then he got tased,” recalled Lt. Hutcheson. “I’ve been a cop for 23 years, I’ve never heard of a Ghostbuster and a Stormtrooper getting assaulted."
Barnes was taken to Cumberland County Jail. No word if he has posted bail.
