Officer Arrested After Groping Woman During Traffic Stop

| by John Freund

A Florida Highway Patrol officer has been arrested for allegedly groping a woman during a traffic stop.

David Gonzalez, 35, is facing a battery charge after being booked into the Lake County Jail.  Gonzalez allegedly pulled over an unidentified 21-year-old woman and groped her inappropriately, WFTV reports.

The woman was pulled over for speeding on U.S. Highway 441. She told investigators that Gonzalez complimented her on her looks and then instructed her to move her vehicle down a side street.  She claims Gonzalez then asked her to get out of the car, and took possession of her phone so he could add himself to her Snapchat account.

Gonzalez then took a selfie of the two of them before hugging, kissing, and eventually fondling the woman’s breasts under her shirt.

The woman contacted investigators, who began monitoring the woman’s Snapchat account and found that Gonzalez continued to message her and inadvertently verified her account of the incident.

A warrant was issued for Gonzalez’s arrest, and he was taken into custody.  WFTV posted the story to its Twitter account, where it has since gone viral.

Gonzalez is currently being held on $10,000 bond, and the Florida Highway Patrol has announced that he has been terminated from his job there.
