Soccer Player Dies After Fans Throw Rocks (Video)

Cameroonian soccer player Albert Ebosse was reportedly hit by rocks thrown by fans after his team, JS Kabylie, lost to USM Alger in an Algerian soccer tournament in Tizi Ouzou, Algeria, yesterday.

In a video (below) posted on YouTube, Ebosse scores a penalty shot during the game. The video then cuts to Ebosse after he was hit by the rocks.

The 24-year-old player was taken to a local hospital where he died.

The incident happened when both teams were walking to their locker rooms after the game in Tizi Ouzou stadium, noted AFP.

The Algerian interior ministry is conducting an investigation.

USM Alger said in a press release that they were saddened by Ebosse's death, which they described as a "bombshell."

According to Metro.co.uk, Ebosse led the Algerian league is scoring last season with 17 goals.
