A shooting at Taft Union High School in Taft, California this morning at 9 a.m. PST has left at least two people wounded, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Department.

Taft is located about 30 miles west-southwest of Bakersfield, California. The school was featured in the movie 'The Best of Times' with Robin Williams and Kurt Russell.

Police say the shooter was taken into custody at about 9:20 a.m. PST, reports KERO-TV.  The shooter has not been identified.

The news station received phone calls from people inside the school who were hiding in closets.

Kern County Fire officials told KGET-TV that the shooting victim was airlifted to Kern Medical Center with unknown injuries and that a second person, with minor injuries, refused treatment at the scene.

Students were evacuated to the football field, where parents are being told to pick them up.

Ironically, the shooting happened as Vice President Joe Biden met with victims of gun violence and gun rights groups.

CNN cut away from Biden to break the shooting story (video below).
