Watch: Sexual Assault Victim Refuses To Back Down

While riding the number 4 train to Chinatown, New York resident Nicola Briggs was sexually assaulted by a man on a crowded subway car.

The offender, who was later found guilty of sexual assault, reportedly exposed himself to Ms. Briggs and attempted to "rub himself" on the victim. To make things even stranger, the man was wearing a condom during the incident.

As the victim herself recounted, "My instinct, and perhaps the God force itself, made me turn around, and I saw this person exposed in front of me, wearing a condom. There really are no proper words to describe the anger and sense of violation that one feels when something like that happens to you."

She continued, "Even so, it took me about a nanosecond to react, and I confronted him, announcing to the subway car at the top of my lungs what he had been doing to me. I let the perpetrator know that he wouldn’t get away with it, and that he would be going to jail."

She would do just that, and along with the support of some other passengers riding the subway car at the time, Nicola Briggs saw to it that the man who sexually assaulted her was in police custody.

According to the NY Daily News, "Upon exiting the train, the perpetrator was immediately arrested by transit police. He was later convicted and is now a registered sex offender for life." The article also adds that the man was not a United States citizen and that he was deported following his indictment.

An anonymous bystander took a video of the incident, which has since gone viral. The Youtube video (which features explicit language and may be NSFW) now has 2 million views.

As for Briggs' reaction to the video, she feels her heated response was justified. "The main thing I felt watching myself in that very intense moment was not embarrassment, but a feeling that I was completely justified in doing what I did, and that I would do it again in a New York minute. I wasn’t ashamed."
