Nanny Who Beheaded Girl Ordered To Stay In Jail

| by Nicholas Roberts

Gyulchehra Bobokulova, the nanny in Russia who decapitated a 4-year-old girl in February and displayed the child's head on video, has been ordered by a judge to remain in a prison psychiatric hospital despite her wishes to be placed under house arrest.

The 38-year-old woman said she was inspired by jihadist videos on the Internet, as well as by vengeance for the Russian Federation's involvement in the Syrian civil war, according to the Daily Mail.

In the video, Bobokulova holds the head of Anastasia (Nastya) Meshcheryakova near a Metro station only minutes after she reportedly killed the child in her family's home.

The judge presiding over her case said that if he were to free her from the psychiatric clinic at the Butyrskaya jail, she could go out and commit the same crime again.

"I want to go back to Samarkand, to be treated there," Bobokulova said after entering the courtroom.

The judge asked what Bobokulova wanted to be treated for, to which she responded: "For my head. I want to go home, under house arrest."

He responded: "What home? Back to Oktyabrskoe Pole? In order to cut off someone else's head?"

The judge ordered the woman to remain under the care of Russian psychiatrists rather than be sent back to her home in Uzbekistan.

Sources close to the investigation say that it is likely that Bobokulova will never be tried for murder, as forensic psychiatrists previously found that she committed the crime during a bout of insanity.  If that verdict is held up in court, Bobokulova would not be liable for criminal prosecution.

However, investigators for the case have asked the judge for more time to examine the nanny's social media posts in the weeks leading up to the grisly killing.
