Woman Charged With Statutory Rape Gets Reduced Bond Because She's Pregnant

| by Tony Tran

A former Kansas educator who was charged with sexual relations with a juvenile has asked for a reduced bond due to the fact that she is currently pregnant and has a 4-year-old child at home.

Jeana Fleming, 32, stands accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student in December 2014, Fox 4 reported.

The issue came to light in May after the student in question admitted to the sexual relationship. The student is said to have attended an alternative education program at Olathe Northwest High School. The teacher resigned when authorities working in conjunction with the Olathe school district began investigating the matter.

A judge originally set Fleming’s bond at $100,000 but then reduced it to $10,000 due to her bond reduction motion. She has since been released from jail after posting the bond.

The former teacher is reportedly seven months pregnant and is expected to deliver her child in October 2015. There is no report on who the father is.

Her other child is 4 years old. Fleming and the 4-year-old's biological father share joint custody of the child.

The school district has since released a statement regarding the issue to Fox 4, saying, “Upon learning of the allegations, district administration immediately launched an investigation and has continued to work closely with local authorities on this matter.”

Fleming is slated to appear in court on July 23.
