A former Pennsylvania politician admitted he fondled the breasts of his 103-year-old mother-in-law who had dementia.
William Spingler, a former Democratic commissioner of Radnor Township who stepped down in 2015, has now been convicted of indecent assault, reports the New York Post.
While he remains free on a $10,000 bail, he will be sentenced on Sept. 28 after psychologists and the state’s Sexual Offenders Assessment Board decide whether he’s a sexually violent predator.
In a June 13 hearing, Spingler called what he did a "stupid, harmless act" that he shouldn't have done.

"I mean, my reputation is destroyed, my business is destroyed," said Spingler, 75. "It was just something that I shouldn’t have done."
Spingler -- who had been caring for the mother-in-law since his first wife died in 2007 -- confessed he had fondled his mother-in-law at a nursing home twice. He says it was to shock her into recognizing him.
"I got nothing, no recognition out of her and I made the biggest mistake of my life," he said. "I thought for shock value, you know, I could get her to say something, let her know I was there. I touched her breast. It was the dumbest thing I ever did, but I did it to get her attention and let her know that I was there."

"I wasn’t sexually assaulting my mother-in-law, who I respect and love,” Spingler later added. "My intent was to hug her and love her and let her know I was there. That’s all I was doing."
Radnor Township Police Chief William Colarulo testified Spingler said something different when he arrested him.
"[Spingler said] 'I know what this is about. This is about me rubbing [the victim’s] breasts. I do it to get her going,'" said Colarulo. "That’s exactly what he said. 'I do it to get her going.’ … He said, 'When I see her, I’ll kiss her on the mouth, I’ll rub her breasts to make her feel good about herself. Sometimes she says "no," but that’s all it is, that’s all there is to it.' Something to that effect."
Spingler's actions sickened many on social media.
"Sorry, did I read that right?" wrote one person on the New York Post's Facebook page. "It was just a 'stupid, harmless act' and wasn't sexually assaulting her??? What a sick, sick guy. Guarantee that wasn't his first time molesting, just the first time he got caught."
"I've never heard of a politician that isn't morally defunct and debauched," added another. "As sad as it is to admit, I'm not even surprised."
