Police: Missing 20-Day-Old Baby Found Dead In Swamp

Two days after a 20-day-old baby and his mother were reported missing in California, the infant was reportedly found dead near wetlands along the Sacramento River in Knights Landing.

Little Justice Rees was discovered in the swamp on Wednesday morning, one day after his 23-year-old mother Samantha Green surfaced on Tuesday afternoon, reports the Daily Mail.

Green was reportedly found next to the wetlands by a man named Ricardo Villasenor, who said he heard her scream for help, reports News 10. She had bruises and wasn't wearing shoes, according to police. She reportedly told police she remembered being abducted with her child while in town, but doesn't know how she got to the river. She was "hysterical," according to authorities, and said she knew her baby was dead somewhere in the swamp, but that she didn't know his exact location.

Police reportedly searched all night for Justice and found his body at 9:50 a.m.

Investigators say they have no evidence that foul play was involved. Both of the infant's parents have reportedly been questioned and the family says Green provided a description of a man she believes abducted her and Justice.

"Samantha just came back from talking to the sheriff's. She was abducted. She recognized the person and she gave them his name," the baby's paternal grandmother Patty Rees said. "I hope he's already in custody since they knew who he was but yes, don't judge Samantha. She was a good mom."

Police say Green is not a suspect.

On Wednesday evening, a vigil for Baby Justice was reportedly held beside the Woodland Opera House on Main Street.
