Facebook Live murderer Steve Stephens shot himself dead this morning in Eerie, Pennsylvania, police have confirmed.
Reports say that "after a brief chase," Stephens took his own life.
"Steve Stephens was spotted this morning by PSP members in Erie County," tweeted the Pennsylvania State Police. "After a brief pursuit, Stephens shot and killed himself."
According to CNN, Stephen's white Ford Fusion was spotted in a McDonald's parking lot and the authorities were alerted. When the police made contact, the man fled in his car. The pursuit ended abruptly when one of the officers disabled Stephen's vehicle with a PIT maneuver.

Police say that Stephens literally shot himself while the car was still spinning out of control due to the PIT maneuver.
Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said: "We're grateful that this has ended. ... We would prefer that it had not ended this way because there are a lot of questions, I'm sure, that not only the family but the city in general would have had for Steve."
"We're making sure we go back and retrace as much as possible," Williams said, according to WJW.
Stephens, 37, murdered 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr. while live streaming on Facebook in Cleveland April 16. Godwin Sr. was reportedly walking home from an Easter celebration with family.

Since then, police around the country have been on high alert, and authorities have been on a manhunt trying to track the man down. After streaming the random and brutal murder, Stephens followed up with other videos claiming to have murdered 15 other people. Despite his claims, police say that Godwin appears to be the only victim.
Godwin Sr.'s family says they had hoped that Stephens would surrender and that suicide "was not the ending they wanted," according to WJW.
Godwin Sr.'s daughter, Brenda Haymon, however, thinks it didn't end badly enough for Stephens: " All I can say is that I wish he had gone down in a hail of 100 bullets," she said. "I wish it had gone down like that instead of him shooting himself."
Stephens reportedly killed the man at random after having become upset over an ended relationship with Joy Lane, as Opposing Views reported prior to Stephens' death.
Authorities are expected to hold a press conference about Stephens' suicide on the afternoon of April 18. They are also reportedly trying to figure out if the man had ties to the Eerie area at all or if he was there simply at random.
