Vermont mother Jessica Mathiau, 42, was arrested and charged with child endangerment last week. According to police, Mathieu was too drunk to drive her car and forced her young son to drive instead.
Vermont State Police say they pulled over Mathiau and her son after spotting a car parked in the middle of the road. When officers approached the car, they found a boy who looked 10 to 12 years old in the driver’s seat. Mathiau was in the passenger seat.
After speaking with Mathiau and her son, police learned that Mathiau forced her child to drive her car since she was drunk. Her car was parked in the road because she fell into a drunken sleep after pulling the emergency brake handle during a stop.
Mathiau, who was still highly intoxicated while talking with police, was arrested and charged with child endangerment. Police could not confirm how old Mathiau's son was, but say he was definitely a “juvenile.”
Mathiau is due to appear in court later this month.
