Columbus police say they have finally gathered DNA evidence to charge a man for the brutal rape and assault of an 81-year-old woman.

Shawn Malone Jr. has been charged for his acts of violence towards the elderly victim after police claim they have gathered physical evidence that link the 23-year-old man to the Jan. 20, 2014, rape.

“He beat me up, stomped on me, sat on me, kicked me," said the victim to 10TV New's Laura Borchers.

"He picked me up by my heels and was beating me on the floor to wake me up again, because I was unconscious at least two times that I know," she said.

The woman, who has asked for her identity to be concealed, claims that Malone Jr. broke into her East Side home through the basement window and found her upstairs where he attacked her with a knife. The victim claims that he held the knife to her and threatened to kill her as he shoved her to the floor. The assault and rape lasted for hours, 10TV reports. She says that the suspect left her with broken ribs, a broken tailbone, and several serious bruises.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that Franklin County Municipal Court Judge Anne Taylor set a $1 million bail for Malone Jr. at his Tuesday hearing.

Police did not have to search extensively to find Malone Jr., as he was already in Franklin County jail on a burglary charge for a previous incident. Malone Jr. was arrested on March 18 for an unrelated burglary when he similarly entered an East Side home through a basement window.

"I'd like to do to him, what he did to me," she said.
